| Anya Hindmarch, London handbag designer, is to be given an MBE (Member of British Empire) as part of the Queen's New Year's Honors list. The 40-year-old designer is given this honor for her eco-friendly bags, the Evening Standard reports. Hindmarch launched The 'I'm Not A Plastic Bag' eco-tote in 2007 in collaboration with the global social change movement 'We are What We Do' to try to influence people to stop using plastic bags. It became a fashion phenomenon, selling 80, 000 in just one day and help raises environmental awareness. |

| Adidas has roped in David Beckham and Missy Elliot to appear in its new advertising campaign for the Originals fashion line. The ad which also featured Russell Simmons dancing at a party was launched at Christmas in the U.S. Keeping pace with the increasing sales of trendy sports apparel and shoes, Adidas is now going global in January with ads for its Originals fashion brand. The sports brand is now shooting its first mass-market advertising campaign in 60 years. |

| Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse, who had been in the news in 2008 for all wrong reasons, is now planning to make her comeback in 2009 as a fashion designer. There is speculation in media that the Rehab singer is currently in negotiations with iconic British label Fred Perry. According to reports, the singer says she has already sketched some designs for them. Winehouse blurted out the news in a hotel bar of Caribbean island St. Lucia. A holidaymaker told The Sun, "She was almost childishly excited and couldn't stop talking about it." |

| British socialite and occasional broadcaster Peaches Geldof has reportedly signed a deal to launch a second collection with PPQ, this time with high street price tags. Her first collaboration for U.K. high street retailer PPQ was a huge success and a new range will launch in the spring. PPQ has enlisted the 19-year-old style icon to design an entire "range to rival that of Kate Moss at Topshop," says This Is London. |

| Courtney Love has defiantly admitted that she is a "a fur whore" and has asked People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to "f--- off" if they don't like it when she wears her antique fur coat. In her recent MySpace post, Love writes, "My ancient Ermine - yep I'm a fur whore, if its 100 years old I'm f**king into it." However the singer somehow managed to send an apology to the animal rights group PETA by saying, "Sorry PETA. I've been very, very good for a very, very long time, and this Ermine is ancient and tattered and feels like it belonged to a Queen." |

| Christina Aguilera is said to be the next celeb designer for London fashion chain TopShop. Topshop owner Philip Green has asked the pop star to design a new collection for the label. The "Genie in a Bottle" singer is expected to earn over $1 million per range that she will design for the Britain's foremost fashion range, Mirror reported. Topshop also sells a collection by British supermodel Kate Moss. |

| It looks like even some celebrities might not be immune to the effects of the slumping economy. Te Casan, the shoe company that backed and sold actress Natalie Portman's vegan shoe line, has gone out of business. Ironically, the shoe collection was originally intended to be a limited edition line, however, this news might make it a bit more limited than Portman wanted. |

| New York designer Donna Karan announced over the weekend that she has dropped fur from her collections. Karan, who has been protested by People For Ethical Treatment of Animal (PETA) released a statement saying, "There is no fur in any of our lines for Fall 2009, and we currently have no plans to use fur." The statement follows a personal appeal made last week on PETA's behalf by Project Runway fashion guru Tim Gunn. Gunn hosts PETA's new undercover fur video of rabbit and other fur farms, where animals are killed by poisoning, gassing, anal electrocution, or neck-breaking. |
